<p>For most of my life taking pride in my appearance was huge. Growing up, my sweet southern Mom wouldn’t let me leave the house before asking if I had on lipstick and flattering earrings. (To this day I always have on lipstick and earrings!)</p>
<p>I married a wonderful man, had three beautiful children, and eventually a full time career. That was my focus. Not how I looked.</p>
<p>When the pounds first started creeping on, I wasn’t too worried. What are a few extra pounds? I can lose those easily&#8230; starting Monday.</p>
<p>Well, after 20 years of Mondays I found myself a 52-year-old grandmother embarrassed by how I looked and wanting more for myself.</p>
<p>What was once little changes&#8230;a tiny belly pooch, a little jiggle in my thighs&#8230;had grown into 3 belly rolls and cottage cheese thighs that not only jiggled, they thundered. Before I knew it, my upper arms fanned out like bat wings.</p>
<p>And my weight? At my lowest point I weighed 49 pounds more than I did on my wedding day. That was the worst part.</p>

<p>Now it was Monday morning and I wanted to see the damage I had done to my weight loss efforts with my binge. The scale said I weighed 196 pounds&#8230;I gasped, just couldn&#8217;t believe it! (I&#8217;m only 5&#8242; 9&quot; tall.)</p>
<p>That meant that in one lousy weekend of cheating on my diet, I had more than gained back every single pound I had lost in the last 3 weeks!</p>
<p>This was the last straw&#8230; I just felt like giving up. I had tried so hard to follow this super strict diet and I had failed to keep the weight off I had lost AGAIN.</p>
<p>I have been trying to lose weight for the last 5 to 7 years and nothing kept the weight off. Once I&#8217;d go off the diet the pounds would creep back on and I&#8217;d end up weighing even more!</p>
<p>I tried all of the top fad diets that I knew about or anyone would recommend to me. But I always failed to keep the weight off after I would &#8216;cheat a little&#8217;.</p>
<p>I tried: The Aktins Diet, The Super Low-Carb Diet, The High Protein Diet, The Jenny Craig Diet Program, The Grapefruit Diet, South Beach and more. You name it and I have probably tried it at one time or another and&#8230;</p>
<p>I would fight and deny myself the foods I loved. I would bite the bullet and stick to the strict diets which were killers to me. I love food.</p>
<p>Sometimes I would lose a few pounds on a new diet, but when the diet was too restrictive, in the end I would fail because I had to give myself a &#8216;little diet cheaters break&#8217;, the weight would come right back and MORE!</p>
<p>One of the biggest problems in America is that we tend NOT to want to hurt each other’s feelings. We tell little white lies, “You look great in that dress” or “you look fantastic …did you lose some weight.” Questions are asked like, “do these jeans make me look fat.” The truth is that we often already know the answer and are simply asking someone else to lie to us.</p>
<p>Luckily, for me, I started having people tell me that I was getting fat, including my mom. I am grateful that my mother loved me enough to tell me the truth</p>
<p>Heck if my Mother was telling me this (no telling what others were saying behind my back)&#8230;and I knew she was telling me the truth no matter how much it hurt me. I KNEW had to DO something about my weight!</p>
<p>In June I hit a super low. I felt deep inside that with this last failure to lose weight at the end of years of fighting to lose weight and failing&#8230;well, this time it seemed like the last straw!</p>
